Mountain Safety

Cape Town is a land of extremes, a leisurely mountain walk can suddenly turn into an exhausting climb in unpredictable weather conditions when the mist rolls in or when temperatures soure to over 35 degrees Celsius (95 'F)! Make sure you are always prepaired with bottled water, wet weather gear and a mobile phone with emergency numbers (Table Mountain Rescue: +27 (0) 21 948 9900). Many an unsuspecting tourist has been caught off-guard in our mountain areas.

About Crime

Unfortunately there is crime in Cape Town, and unsuspecting tourists are often soft targets. Please don't carry expensive equipment around with you, or leave items like cameras and wallets in your parked cars. When hiking, especially women, make sure you hike in groups and never alone. Try not to walk back to your hotel after dark, especially alone. Call a cab, or a Rikki both of which will get you home safely and securely.
